NEW DWELLING

KINGSTON ST MARY, SOMERSET
2000 - 2008

Trevor J Spurway (Architect) Ltd was commissioned to obtain outline planning permission for a single dwelling within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and located on the boundary of a village settlement limit. Following successfully obtaining Outline Planning Consent the practice was requested to obtain Full Planning and oversee the project on site through to completion.

The design of the new dwelling needed to incorporate the key views which the site encompassed which included views across the vale of Taunton Deane to the Blackdown and Brendon Hills.

The key element of the design is the central staircase tower feature which provides an axis of movement for the plan of the building and provides the client with a dining room at first floor and study area at second floor , each acting as a viewing gallery to gain the best views possible.

The design also incorporated the latest technology requirements with regard to media, mechanical and electrical systems.
