The owners of an established Retail Outlet were actively seeking alternative premises for their business due to additional space requirements, increasing access problems for lorries/shoppers and remoteness of their existing site from recent retail developments on the east side of Taunton.
The current site use was also out of keeping with the residential nature of this part of Taunton and the project was to achieve planning permission for a residential development that was both a more suitable use for this area and would lower traffic levels.
The scheme aimed to utilise characteristics that are apparent on local building types.
A scheme of 3 storey townhouses and a 2 storey detached house with associated garaging, parking and a new access road was approved by Taunton Deane Borough Council and subsequently erected by a private developer.
